Class and Rental Information
My beginning class is designed to teach all students the basic fundamentals and introductory skills to glassblowing. No experience is necessary. By the end of my course each student should expect to complete 6 to 8 pieces of glass. We will begin with basic paperweights and progress on to simple bowls and cups. Each beginning class is limited to 2 students to allow for a safe learning environment as well as individual instruction. Individuals may take the class as well. It will just be 2 sessions for 2 hours each.
- All tools and materials are included in the cost of the course.
- The environment in a glass “Hot Shop” can be warm. You are strongly encouraged to bring a cold beverage with you. (Water, Gatorade, Iced Tea, etc.)
- Open toed shoes are not permitted.
- Participants are required to sign a liability release form prior to the start of class.
4 Session Beginning Glassblowing Class $400 per person
Classes meet on the same day for each of the four sessions. A $125 non-refundable deposit is due upon registration. The balance is due in its entirety at the first class.
-Sign up with a friend and save $25 per person. (I am very flexible for scheduling of this).
Intermediate and Advanced courses are available for those who have completed the beginning class. These classes are designed for those who want to further their skills in glassblowing. We will focus on shapes and color application processes.
Walk in Classes
Both are very basic, 10 minute, Just call a couple of days ahead. Fun for all ages.
Ornament Making $25/student
You will choose the color in which you would like your ornament to be. I will than gather and apply color. You will melt the color in and blow the ornament into shape. I will than make a hook out of hot glass so you will be able to hang your ornament.
Flower Pulling $30/student
You will select the color for your flower. I will then gather glass and apply color. You will use glassblowing tools to pull out the pedals and stem of your flower.
Note: To allow the glass a proper annealing time, your ornaments and/or flowers require a 24 hour duration before pick up.
Paperweight Class $75 per student
This is a straight forward, one session class, designed to teach students the basics of a paperweight. I will do a demonstration and explain the process as I go. Each student will then have a chance to create their own paperweight. This class will take no more than 1 hour. Up to 3 students. A payment of $75 per student will be due prior to the start of the class. I am very flexible in scheduling this particular class.
Private Instruction
I will work 1 on 1 with the student. This is the fastest way to develop glassblowing skills as a beginner. Students interested in private instruction may do so at the rate of $100 per hour. A minimum of 3 hours is necessary to learn the fundamentals of glassblowing. Private Instruction is available on a much more flexible schedule.
Group Demonstration
All groups will pay a flat fee of $75. This entitles your group to a presentation, studio tour, and a demonstration where I will give an explanation as I work. In addition groups may participate in ornament making or flower pulling an additional cost. Please schedule group tours in advance.
RENTAL INFORMATION
Shop rental is available at $60/hour. This includes a 21 inch glory hole, large annealer, and pick up box. I will assist you at no extra charge. A garage is available at an additional cost if needed. I also have a much smaller hole that can be rented for $40/hour.
